The deputy governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ondo State, Mrs. Susan Gbemisola Alabi, has officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mrs. Alabi’s decision comes after resigning from the SDP due to “irreconcilable differences” with the party’s governorship candidate, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye.

Mrs. Alabi was warmly welcomed into the APC by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the APC candidate in the upcoming November 16 governorship election, during his campaign tour of Akoko North West Local Government Area.

In his remarks, Governor Aiyedatiwa assured residents that the 2025 budget would be strategically designed to benefit every region within Ondo State.

“The 2025 budget will be well-structured to guarantee that every area of Ondo State benefits from development initiatives,” he said, emphasizing upcoming improvements in infrastructure and services in Akoko North West.

Governor Aiyedatiwa also expressed gratitude for the support of local monarchs, who had endorsed him both during the APC primaries and for the upcoming election.

Representing 27 traditional rulers in the area, the Owa of Ogbagi, Oba Olasehinde Ojo Adetona, pledged unwavering support, promising strong voter turnout for the APC.

During the event in Oke Irun, Aiyedatiwa urged party supporters to remain united and actively participate in securing victory for the APC.

He highlighted that his campaign’s route through major areas in the local government enabled him to directly understand the communities’ needs.

The celebratory atmosphere continued in Oke Agbe, the local government headquarters, where Aiyedatiwa reiterated his administration’s focus on critical areas such as security, infrastructure, and agriculture, assuring residents that their concerns would be reflected in future planning.
