Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk, has disclosed that the club intends to do all within its power to keep Victor Osimhen in Turkey.
Buruk also confirmed that Osimhen’s contract has a release clause that allows him to join any of the clubs he is interested in during the January transfer window.
He, however, stated that the final decision rests with the player who has not hidden his desire to see out the season-long loan.
The coach made the disclosures while speaking to the press on Sunday.
According to him, the club is ready to push its financial limits in order to keep the 25-year-old Nigerian striker.
He said, “Osimhen has the intention of staying here until the end of the season. He also wants to stay; he said the same thing at the beginning.
“There is a clause there, but it doesn’t matter; he said he will stay. There is a clause about transfers in January. This clause has different things.
“The important thing is the player. The player who decides. That’s why Osimhen says he will stay here. He said the same thing when he came.
“If the player wants to stay, Galatasaray will do whatever it takes to keep him, even if it means pushing the limits financially. While an immediate transfer seems unlikely, a move could happen at the end of the season.”
Naija News reports Osimhen joined Galatasaray from Napoli on the last day of the transfer window following unsuccessful attempts to join Al-Ahli and Chelsea.
Since arrival in Turkey, the striker has scored eight goals and provided four assists in just nine appearances across all competitions.
