Galatasaray’s head coach, Okan Buruk, has confirmed that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen will remain with the team until the end of the current season.
Victor Osimhen is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli. Since he arrived at the Turkish side earlier this season, the Nigerian international has been a key player for the Super Lig champions.
In recent weeks, there have been speculations linking Osimhen to a potential transfer to Manchester United, suggesting that the Premier League club has made inquiries about his availability.
The speculations gained more ground by a clause in Osimhen’s contract that permits him to move to another club during the January transfer window.
Despite these rumours and the existing clause, Buruk has asserted that the 25-year-old Nigerian forward is committed to staying with Galatasaray throughout the winter transfer window.
“Osimhen intends to stay here until the end of the season,” Buruk stated in an interview with NTV. He emphasized that the player has consistently expressed his desire to remain with the club since his arrival.
“The important thing is the player; it is ultimately the player who decides where he wants to be. Osimhen has conveyed to me that he wishes to stay here. He reiterated his commitment when he joined us,” Buruk added, allaying any concerns about a mid-season departure.
Since joining Galatasaray, Osimhen has scored eight goals and provided four assists in just nine matches across all competitions.
